Hello,
I have a 53" RCA Scenium HDTV, and have a couple of questions about power consumption and tube life. This model of TV has an integrated DVD player, as well as an on-board power amp. The sound quality seems excellent, so I've been using this set as my primary stereo, playing CD's in the disc player and music from my PC. My question is this: When I'm listening to music on my set without an video programming, am I consuming the same amount of power as when I'm viewing video material? Over a period of time, will I be shortening the life of my TV significantly by using it this way? The set has a "screen saver" function that kicks in after a couple of minutes. Similiarly, I have my PC connected to the DVI input. When I am listening to PC audio with the TV in DVI mode, am I using more power and shortening the life of my TV? Note: I typically have the DVI output from the PC turned off (Windows is told not to extend desktop to second monitor, and only the audio input to the TV is active) Thanks for your help! |

Using the set as a CD Player, Eh?? It only blanks the raster while doing this, the set is still functioning as if it were operating within the DVD mode. Also, seen too many with mechanical failures in the DVD Player, you may be shortening it's lifetime by using it in this manner. "stm" wrote in message om... this, the set is still functioning as if it were operating within the DVD mode. Also, seen too many with mechanical failures in the DVD Player, you may be shortening it's lifetime by using it in this manner. So power useage and tube wear would be similiar, even though screen is black? Is the same true for DVI mode with a blank screen? If the main drawback is wear on the DVD player, I wouldn't worry too much about it. |
