You can go to the USA without a passport, but you need to use Pearl
not Python.

If you are British they will let you in if you have a current UK
driving licence


Do you need to have it with you, or are they merely trying to
weed out the non-driving population?

Not in the UK, but the car has just been licensed for use in Nevada (I
think it does have to have a legal driver at the wheel ready to take over).
