Your units are power, yet you are apparently referring to energy.
Power != Energy, despite the lack of understanding of most journalists.

Absolute drivel.

Total UK cheese demand is 5 million tons per year. (I made that up.)

If I said "UK energy demand is X Joules" you would rightly ask "in
what period?" The demand for something is naturally expressed as the
amount of it required per unit time. So energy demand has units of
power.

Sadly a lot of the published data are in kilowatt hours. Good and
confusing.

Your attitude of government knows best and can do what it choses,
totally ignoring human rights, is really frightening.

No, but I might put forward yours!-)

That, along with your carte blanche for government to dictate
on matters of reproduction, reveals the attitude of an incipient fascist.

The last bastion of a bleeding heart Socialist, to accuse a pragmatist of
being a fascist by invoking Godwin's law.

It's not drivel at all you ****ing obnoxious little ****.
I did say "apparently referring to energy". It is not at all clear what
is meant.

If I said "UK energy demand is X Joules" you would rightly ask "in
what period?" The demand for something is naturally expressed as the

power.

So why not say power in the first place if that's what was meant?
And what would "Total UK power demand" mean, which someone would
undoubtedly write.
I don't see how you can have a total demand for something that is a
point reading.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember SpamTrapSeeSig
saying something like:

how the 24-hour TV news channels handle the situation. The presenters
typically show a complete lack of practical knowledge and appear
baffled by the simplest things that happen in the world.

That's because they ARE baffled.

Indeed. I heard some bimbo reporter the other day talk about this power
station generating some x amount of gigawatts per hour, and repeating
the same glaring howler ten seconds later.
These bimboed luvvies (of both sexes) with their bloody arts and meeja
studies degrees shouldn't be allowed within ten feet of a technical
subject - words fail me; I cannot express in polite company the utter
contempt I have for these people.
Ffs, it's obvious just who was sitting up the back of the basic science
classes at school, passing notes, picking their noses and scratching
their arses - because technical stuff is just sooooo boring and they'd
get a job by flashing their tits.

Taking Africa as an example, they are rich in natural resources, yet
despite all the help given by the west are still not operating
efficiently enough to feed and clothe their people properly. Why this
is I can't imagine, but in any case it's their own fault so there's no
reason we should be levelled down.

You must be able to imagine the endemic corruption in Africa, from
politicians at the top down to car park attendants, all of whom expect
backhanders to do their job, only the amounts vary.

The problem is though, that is what most viewers have been
conditioned into wanting to watch.

The best selling "newspaper" (3 million copies per day) in the
UKofGB&NI did not become best selling because of the quality
of its news reporting.

Yes, it would be necessary to mount it on a turntable driven by a
small electric motor. This would compensate for the rotation of the
earth. It wouldn't use much electricity because it would only need to
turn a full circle once a day. It could be on a circular track like
at Jodrell Bank. Bill

Of course perpetual motion doesn't work.
There are those who say the Jasker machine is a gyroscope spun up
with a motor, and connected to a generator.
They say the extra power is coming from the gyroscope absorbing gravity

Of course if that's true it's both simple to generate electricity from
gravity and would eventually kill us all if applied.

It would probably mean the same thing. Natural language is like that.

I don't see how you can have a total demand for something that is a
point reading.

If you re-read the earlier article you will see that "total" is
contrasted with electricity only.

I don't know what you mean about "a point reading". Watts is a
perfectly good unit for average energy consumption, just as
miles-per-hour is a perfectly good unit for average speed.
