I based my comment on a recollection that the TV receiving licence
used to say that it was a licence for the reception of tv broadcasts
including those of amateurs.


There certainly are some amateurs broadcacsting TV...

I think I was deceived because the statement is grammatically incorrect.
It should have been
'There certainly are some amateurs in broadcast TV'.
I'm sure that the broadcasting is still done by 'professionals'.

Strictly speaking I suppose, there are in fact no broadcasters at the BBC or
ITV plc anymore, since both the BBC and ITV plc are just program producers
and schedule fillers.

The broadcasters all work for Red Bee and Arqiva.
