Does that mean that all TV's sold in the UK from now on (going forward) are
sold as Freeview or FreeSat (or both).

Imaginary customer complaint...
"This set is very poor for receiving 'other satellite FTA channels"
" You bought a Freesat TV, Sir, so you can't expect it too be any good in
that respect."

Unless Lidl or Aldi market one , no such thing as FTA TV ?

That's a misuse and an abuse of the word 'amateur'.

never invite you home for tea or offer to give you a lift as they're
going that way to visit their Aunty Madge anyway.

When in Greece I was in a small town looking for its ancient ruin. Having
driven around a bit I stopped to ask. The man that I stopped couldn't speak
much English so we used a bit of sign language and I thought that he meant
that he was going that way anyway and would show me, so he hopped in the
front seat.

He directed me to his front door, got out and left me nowhere nearer my
goal that I was before.

I had to laugh!

2012? What? That must be in some obscure south eastern part of
the UK
I guess. Prettywell everywhere else will be switched by this time
next
year.

Londoncentric ******** as usual.

Forgive me, but don't most TV's that have built-in Freeview also
receive analogue?

Yes. The report should say "Analogue-only television sets are no longer
being sold at major retailers across the UK...".

Is that meant to be satire? Or is it real? It could easily be.

Closeness to reality is a characteristic of good satire.

Indeed. Many unpaid under-funded hobbyists vastly exceed the quality of the
amateurs I was referring to!

Even without an amateur licence, you should not need a Broadcast TV

Well I stand corrected then.

I based my comment on a recollection that the TV receiving licence
used to say that it was a licence for the reception of tv broadcasts
including those of amateurs.

There certainly are some amateurs broadcacsting TV...
