I hear it looked pretty different at about four minutes in. Ads in
live sport again! Will ITV ever get it right?

Supposedly ITV switched to upscaled SD after the, er, mistake.

This was widely reported (well by BBC and $ky (who showed a recording)
anyway).

It appears that ITC lost their HD feed after about three minutes and ran
adverts while Gerrad scored a goal. When coverage resumed it was in SD.

Other matches in HD have been fine.

NO !

ITV's playout contractor, Technicolor suffered a 'glitch' and a break
bumper cut in.

Indeed it was, what I speculated yesterday, seems to be confirmed by ITV
in their statement of today.

And before we start on conspiracy theories about 'betting' and HD being
4 seconds behind SD, that latency is in the emission. The difference
between SD and HD feeds as seen by the broadcasters in London is much
lower.
