Default australian dvd recorder

It does make one wonder though if, in the actual machine its just a software
difference. However, I bet t they would not want anyone to find out.

Some time ago, I recall a certain piece of measuring equipment which the
manufacturer had supplied to the wrong specification (his fault).
Unfortunately, although the customer had had it for some time, it had
been sitting in the stores until it was needed, and the problem wasn't
discovered for several weeks. It was now urgently required, but the
customer was told that it would have to be returned for a re-work, and
the turn-around would be around two weeks.

The customer's boss was not amused, and made a few phone calls to the
right people. He was told that an engineer would call back later in the
day with a very long unique alpha-numerical code number (40 digits?)
which had to be loaded from a PC into the unit (via RS232 or IEEE?).

Apparently, the user options were all actually built into the unit 'at
birth', but were only activated according to the customer's individual
requirements, and all were individually charged for.
