Our cats left urine everywhere. I had them all shot.

So much for all the publicity on checking the area via post code before you
buy your new telly?

As for extra sockets, I can recall many moons ago, a tv with a multipin
socket masked off with a push in bit of plastic which said 625 adaptor. The
daft thing of course back in those 405 line days was that when 625 did come,
there was no way any adaptor set into this socket would work.

Then there is the phantom computer add on. amstrad used to promote the
coming soon item of the SI1 for its +2A Spectrum as a disc drive interface,
and there was a socket for it, but it was never actually made!

I'm surethough that it must say something about the cost of connectors if
Sony can just bung up a hole with one when they get a few case parts with an
extra hole.

The customer had bought a new Sony TV set, then found there was no DTT
where he lived. Over the phone I suggested Freesat. He had a look at
the back of the set and it had an 'f' input with a satellite symbol.
But it didn't have a satellite tuner! There's no suggestion that he'd
been mislead because the set wasn't sold as having Freesat, but it's
one to watch out for.

Yes, the problem is that satellite doesn't appear as an option in the
'source' menu. We now suspect that a factory reset and/or a re-tune
WITH A DISH CONNECTED is required.

I'll have you know I've very cosmopolitan. I drink beer from
Lancashire sometimes!

PS, actually, seriously, the products of the Howard Town Brewery,
Glossop, are all excellent.

Got a cure for that. Years ago we had a neighbour with a cat that
was a bl**dy nuisance - always depositing in our garden and
digging.

One day I went out and made friends with it and as it was walking
away I gave it a good squirt of freezer spray right up the
........ Shift? I should say so!!

Never came near me or the garden again.

And Sky boxes all had a CAM socket of some sort on the back, and an "interactive"
card slot on the front

I'm told that you should be all marking your territory. Works for foxes
too. Not so handy for urban front gardens where the neighbours seem to find
this a little disconcerting!

Not any more they don't. The last thing to use the "interactive" slot was the
Sky Credit card, and that's been killed off and turned into a regular credit
card. The new Sky+HD 1TB box (Amstrad DRX895) has no CAM slot or interactive
slot.

It was originally put there because the "interactive" bit of the sky digibox
was for "Open..." which was a joint venture between BT, HSBC and Sky. BT and
HSBC were also trialling Mondex electronic cash at the time and assumed it
would take off in a big way and so a domestic reader that could deal with it
would be useful.
