Interesting. I just found http://www.itv.com/itv1hd/questionsaboutitv1hd/
which says
"Which regions will be represented on ITV1 HD?
We will launch with the London region followed by a roll out of regions in
stages - London, North, Central, South East by June 2010. It's worth
checking with each digital HD TV provider before signing up for their
service that they can provide digital TV services to your area.". Does your
experience mean they launched in the South East region early?

That broad statement you quoted above does not distinguish between
satellite (Freesat and Sky), cable (Virgin) and terrestrial (Freeview).

The "digital HD TV providers" are regionalised in different ways. Sky,
Virgin, Freeview and Freesat are mentioned on that page.

On Freesat, ITV1 HD has been available in all regions as a Red Button
service on ITV1 London (which is available in the EPG in all regions).

On Freeview, it is only available in some regions so far.

Default Freesat 119 ITV1 HD

I think currently there is just a single stream, London that is (or should
be) mapped to all English and Welsh post codes. I'm not sure where ITV are
going to find the extra bandwidth to launch more HD streams on satellite.
They might well be referring to DTT and Cable and possibly FTV Sky only.

Ignore that. On my parents Bush I had to run a 'first time' scan in order
to get Ch 119 to appear.

I went right back to the start with the Bush, and re-entered thee
postcode.
Meridian South is the channel that appears on 103, and BBC 1 South on 101.

Try stuffing in Basingstoke Council's postcode RG21 4AH, if your Sussex
one doesn't work.

OK. Just retuned using my false South Coast postcode, and Ch 119 is there.
Now I just have to put aside some time for the non-Freesat channel tuning!
