Red button gone now. http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?p...chedule#friday Regards David No it hasn't! I've just pressed it and switched to HD while tuned to ITV1 London (on Freesat). Indeed, it was always there on Ch 103 for Channel Islands post codes, and still is, but curiously Ch 119 is missing on CI channel scans. Deliberate or cock-up I wonder ? -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. http://www.paras.org.uk/ |

It is not there on Northern Ireland postcode scans. I'd assume that the same goes for Scotland The local "Channel 3" companies, which are independent of ITV Plc, would not want their local viewers to watch ITV1 HD instead of the local stations and therefore not see adverts on the local stations. Everything is being transmitted and received in HD (1080i). It's just that much of the source material will upscaled from SD. Blurryvision (576i) convert Blurryvision (1080i). Spot the difference, if you can! the good thing is, the SD source they are using is their own super high quality SD source that we never get to see - so there's no reason why even the upscaled stuff will not look lots better than when we allow our televisions to upscale the crappy ITV feed we get. Good point. Something I recorded the other day came in at under 1 Gig for an hour ![]() |

ITV HD *is* linked by red button from Channel ITV, *but* the Ch 119 version is not available. AIUI the red button link is not, nor ever has been, available on UTV or STV ? Correct for UTV and presumably STV. ITV1 London with Red Button access to ITV1 HD is in the EPG for the UTV region at Ch977. So why does Freesat info on Ch999 say that ITV1 HD on Channel 119 is available to viewers in England, Wales, and those Scottish viewers in the Border TV region? Funny thing is that when I first tuned in the Bush HD, it selected London region for my (North Sussex) postcode. I changed it a couple of months ago to a Brighton south coast postcode in order to get south local news more easily. Unfortunately, doing that "First time install" deleted all the non-Freesat channels as well, so I had to manually retune those. -- Jeff |

I just found http://www.itv.com/itv1hd/questionsaboutitv1hd/ which says "Which regions will be represented on ITV1 HD? We will launch with the London region followed by a roll out of regions in stages - London, North, Central, South East by June 2010. It's worth checking with each digital HD TV provider before signing up for their service that they can provide digital TV services to your area.". Does your experience mean they launched in the South East region early? Regarding the Bush HD receiver, the instructions say "The TV Listings menu shows you all of your available channels. This list is updated automatically each time you open the menu, so there is no need to retune your digital box when new channels become available." Hell. If you have got 119 on Meridian rather than London, that means a new "First time install" if the Bush isn't retuning properly, and much fuffing around with manual retuning of the non-Freesat channels. :-( -- Jeff |

Does your experience mean they launched in the South East region early? I think currently there is just a single stream, London that is (or should be) mapped to all English and Welsh post codes. I'm not sure where ITV are going to find the extra bandwidth to launch more HD streams on satellite. They might well be referring to DTT and Cable and possibly FTV Sky only. Regarding the Bush HD receiver, the instructions say "The TV Listings menu shows you all of your available channels. This list is updated automatically each time you open the menu, so there is no need to retune your digital box when new channels become available." Ignore that. On my parents Bush I had to run a 'first time' scan in order to get Ch 119 to appear. Hell. If you have got 119 on Meridian rather than London, that means a new "First time install" if the Bush isn't retuning properly, and much fuffing around with manual retuning of the non-Freesat channels. :-( I went right back to the start with the Bush, and re-entered thee postcode. Meridian South is the channel that appears on 103, and BBC 1 South on 101. Try stuffing in Basingstoke Council's postcode RG21 4AH, if your Sussex one doesn't work. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |
