Oh and the ability to REMEMBER SERIES LINK SCHEDULED RECORDINGS AFTER
DOING AN OVER AIR UPGRADE AND DEVICE RESET !!!!!
That one bugged me this time for my 9150. :/

Whilst you are at it, How about making series link compatible
with padding?

Incremental rescan (remembering which channels were already deleted and only
keeping new and saved one). Completely automatic background rescan would be
nice.
Ability to create directory structure (and optionally move new recordings
automatically to sub directories).
Adding a few seconds padding to "back to back" recordings on the same
channel rather than losing 10 seconds in the join.
Allowing user to configure conflict resolution strategy for AR conflicts
(from a choice of possibilities) instead of a "take it or leave it, don't
explain how it works" option.
Allowing user to configure size of live recording buffer (including turning
off completely).
Allowing user to select priority of live recording over scheduled
recordings.
Allowing user to select AR on a per channel basis. (Adding padding to the
other channels).
Allow user to select a priority for AR recordings (High or Low) so that if a
time change creates an unresolvable conflict the box "knows" which recording
to keep. (Obviously this isn't going to be perfect, but it's better than
nothing)
Allow user to swap the EPG between 5 channels plus "preview" and 10 channels
w/o preview.
Make the menu option overlay a broadcast channel rather than replacing it.
Make it possible to find out how much disk is used without also having
"Format" on the same page. Add a calculation of approximately how much
disk space the current scheduled recordings will occupy (even an over
estimate is better than nothing).
Possibility of renaming recordings (especially necessary for edited
recordings).
Improved file editing.

Plus a HMI few inconstancies that need improving e.g:

Making the EPG show what is actually going to be recorded rather than what
was first selected. (Try selecting a program in the EPG, manually edit it by
one day and see what happens).
Making the "back" key, move back when in text mode(!).
Create a "single key" to save an edited reservation.
Increase the size of the "find" buffer. Or if that's not possible, add
found programs on a date basis, not on a channel basis. Currently if you
have too many matches you can never ever find the ones in the high numbered
channels. (Try this by finding a genre, at least one of the genre is
guaranteed to overflow the buffer space, there are too many programs in a
week for this not to happen).

And then there are the bugs :-(

And as I said, none of this is hard compared with the task of economically
making the box and creating sales channels for it.

I'm puzzled. I've had my Humax 9200 for about 9 months, with no
problems at all. Bought direct from Humax, IIRC as a reconditioned
machine, and certainly not their latest model because I had the
impression from this NG that the 9300 wasn't thought to be as good.
Just occasionally when using subtitles, they do get a bit behind, but
I've only ever known the machine to go very slow and unresponsive when
I've pressed too many buttons in rapid sequence. But even then, it
sorts itself out after a few seconds.

Same here.

Apart from occasional complete lock-ups, which can happen at any
time, I find mine can lag a considerable number of seconds behind
the remote during the first few minutes after switching on, I
assume this has to do with using its resources on populating the
EPG.

Yes, that seems to be the consensus as to what is causing this
problem. Deleting any tv/radio channels that you don't watch helps
to minimize the problem.
