With a Focus I had, the only ill-effect was that the left indicator
(when activated) would flash at about three times normal speed.

Older vehicles were very susceptible!..

I had a van that did that when I used my 25W CB. I wonder why, since
there were no electronics involved, except a very simple 'flasher
unit'.

All I can think of is that some of the old bi-metallic strip thermal flasher
units went faster as the battery voltage dropped. So if the transmitter
shared a fuse or some thinish wiring with the indicators that might make the
voltage drop a little.

Sorry the quoting went funny there for some reason.
The first paragraph is from wrightsaerials.
The last from me.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "198 kHz" saying
something like:

It seems that there is an ongoing campaign against the little varmints -

Tfft, I was beginning to despair of any action.
If Ofcom weren't so bloody useless they could have nipped this in the
bud years ago.

Don't worry once he's got fibre to cabinet, with whatever the next
wireless to customer standard is, on somewhere around 2 to 20GHz.

His PLA will be as much use a 50 baud teleprinter

Surely the immediate problem is mainly going to be in-home PLT?

I don't think that the provision of broadband over the power lines
('BPL' as the Americans call it) has been widely implemented in the UK -
except for one or two experimental systems. With luck, essentially
interference-free fibre connections will knock any ideas of 'BPL' well
and truly on the head. But there will still be a market for the
abominable in-home stuff.

It could just as easily be a taxi.

I think ST is suggesting that we'll soon have 500Mbps broadband and we won't
want to "cripple" it by using 85Mbps (or even 200Mbps) in home PLT to
distribute it round our homes.

I'm not really convinced by either part of this argument.

Last time I took any notice there were always a fair number in the queue
outside the railway station with magmount whips that look like they're for
PMR transceivers.
