writes I think the really annoying folk are not the top posters like me, they are those who bottom post but leave the whole thread quoted above it. At least when I leave it, its below what I've said and can be looked at if you like. Most people I'd imagine, these days if reading on a server download like this, can have the attention span long enough to remember the previous message when they get to mine so lots of quoting before the reply is not needed, even after a long time. Add to that the fact that if they really cannot remember it, its still there, just a mouse jiggle away. I don't miss the mouse now, I got over it. Now get over the pedantry of old net ways not totally relevant in today's world. And get your sig sep sorted out FFS -- geoff |

What has where I reply got to do with the question. I top post because being blind makes sorting through quotes far more difficult than it is for you mouse wielding pedants out there. Telling us we have to wear blindfolds and use Braille terminals. All in the name of equality. orta be a law against it. |

Johnny B Good wrote: Rather sadly, that strategy of buying a service manual (Haynes manuals aside) is usually impractical these days on two counts. The first being the total lack of their availabilty for most such kit and the second being the use of proprietry firmware coded chips assuming you can even get such a manual or circuit diagram in the first place. I found the service manual for the above amp on line - and had to pay IIRC $8 to download the PDF. So quite good value. The fee was for a fixed time use of the site, so I could have downloaded anything else they had as well. -- *Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. Your argument is cack, since you still have to read posts written proeprly. I and, I am sure, most people on here have no problem with Brian's top posting but do get a bit fed up with the people who do - many of whom haven't even bothered to read his sig. Like Brian, I also get fed up with replies where the original, often long, post isn't trimmed yet most of it is completely irrelevant to the reply content. I have a solution for Brian which should keep everybody happy - to delete the original post in its entirety before writing his reply. He might need to keep a separate copy of his signature to copy and paste in at the end, as that will almost certainly disappear as well. Problem solved ... -- Terry |

Casey writes I and, I am sure, most people on here have no problem with Brian's top posting but do get a bit fed up with the people who do - many of whom haven't even bothered to read his sig. I once made the mistake of criticising Brian for repeatedly top posting. Unfortunately, while his sig DOES say "Blind user, so no pictures please!", it makes absolutely no mention of the fact that he (understandably) finds it difficult to bottom post etc. In comparison, a partially sighted contributor to another NG always uses capitals. To avoid getting constant accusations of 'shouting', his sig explains precisely why he does it. Result - no 'nastiness'. -- Ian |

As patiently explained, his blindness is not an excuse for top-posting. If you're going to get sniffy about people who haven't, in your worthless opinion, bothered to read something then I suggest you deal with the beam in your own eye first. You could also sort out your own newsreader which doesn't properly wrap quotes. |
