Radio on the mains can work. My auntie lived so near the Holme Moss
transmitter that the electric cooker could get radio 4.

Just Radio 4 on the large ring on the left. I never heard anything on
the large right ring or the two small rings. On a good day the volume
was high enough to hear from across the room.

Thanks i'll have a read, I used to buy Television mag occasionally

A fascinating documentation of the closing days of an era when sets
could routinely be repaired by slotting in a generic tripler. And,
sadly, of the writer's eventual mental decline.
