I have just been told that Sky have now worked out a way for their
customers to watch ITV HD, and will be sending out information.
(ITV has always been receivable, but it is flagged with an
incorrect video PID that stopped boxes tuning to it properly. PC's
with sat tuners have been able to watch / record ITV HD since it
started - software permitting)

What are you going to watch on ITV1 in HD?
I have Freesat and can already get it, they do if you are lucky 2
programmes per week! We have to press a Blue button on the rare
programme we watch is in HD, we do not bother actually.

With ITV running out of money it might be a finish!

Soner or later someone in the company will ask "How much are we paying
for a channel we hardly use? How much extra advertising revenue does it
bring in? Is it cost-effective?

Perhaps they should transmit cunningly upscaled SD material on their HD
channel.

Because ITV HD is a red-button service the programmes are unrecordable.
This must surely reduce the number of potential viewers.

Not true -- ITV HD can be recorded on a PC with a DVB-s card.

Fairly sure the Billy Connelly programme featuring him travelling in
Canada recorded Ok in HD from the EPG on my Humax a few weeks back,it
offered the option of HD or SD when the programme was first
highlighted for recording .

Sorry. My mistake.

The confused viewer needs to remember, in my case, to look at ITV1
London in the epg rather than my usual UTV.

Will have to find something else on ITV HD worth recording and check
that I was not imagining things.

I don't have to press any 'red button' to watch ITV HD on my satellite
receiver, and can record it like any other service from that receiver. Not
that I've bothered to.

I'm using satellite and have to press a button to move off (Yorkshire area)
SD to (Granada) HD.
