The brainless masses are all like that - whatever their age - I was

referring to the slightly more intelligent members of my generation.

Can you give a specific example of some ******** we swallow, that you

older people don't?

Yes, all the ******** about global warming. Talking to people of my age
group about the ban on 100W light bulbs, I've been pleasantly surprised at
the degree of scepticism and resentment displayed.

Is this new tonight?
The sound is faulty at present. Only the left channel is working.

Same here.

I had it for days, then I got some Otex.

Oh yes, those awful old bores have clogged the BBC forums [1] and
probably newspaper ones too, moaning on, as if this ban represents the
end of western civilisation as we know it, even though they probably
don't own or use any 100w bulbs.
Of course, as I've said elsewhere, the establishment are happy to keep
you all pre-occupied with petty, unimportant issues such as this,
since it helps keep the spotlight away from far more serious and/or
controversial matters which the media will never tell you about.

fwiw my friends and I don't blindly believe the hype about global
warming - we realise that scientists are split on the issue, and we
recognise the hypocrisy of the government when, having forced such
things as energy-wasting "it's worse than NTSC or your money back!"
DVB boxes on people, they patronisingly appear on television and tells
us all to 'do our bit' by making sure we switch lights off and stop
taps dripping.

However, you seem to have actual solid proof that global warming is
"********" - so perhaps you'd like to enlighten us....

Seems to be fixed now.
I like to think it's because I emailed them about it on Monday.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember saying

Why don't you tell us all about Building 7?

It was brought down by thousands of exploding 100w light bulbs after
the entirely 100% natural collapse of the twin towers caused a slight
power surge.

That sounds very credible.

Yes, well, we mustn't forget the events of 1916 in Blackpool. Blackpool
Corporation had bought a job lot of cheap Chinese 100W bulbs for the
Illuminations. The lift in the Blackpool Tower descended suddenly when the
control mechanism was overwhelmed during a visit by Five Ton Francis
Fitzwilliam, a popular music hall star of the time. The lift motor fed
excess voltage into the Corporation's electricity system, with the result
that the Chinese bulbs all along the prom exploded in spectacular fashion
over a ten second period. The reduction in load caused an even stronger
power surge which affected the Blackpool Gigantic Wheel. The Wheel spun
faster and faster, throwing ladies in crinolines and mustachioed gentlemen
into the sea. Freed of its human cargo the wheel finally broke loose from
its bearings and thundered up Abingdon Street and Church Street, turning
right onto Whitegate Drive then left onto Mere Road. Finally it came to rest
in the lake of Stanley Park, where it remains to this day.

I don't know why I bothered telling you this Jamie, because I know you don't
believe a word I say.

Unfortunately there are no clips of this on YouTube. Remarkably there was no
one in the vicinity with a camera phone, camcorder or even an 8mm cine camera.
