There was a brief craze in the early 60s for fitting an illuminated fish
tank in the cabinet of an old television set.

reliability and poor quaulity pictures compared with Panasonic and JVC.



I worked for a while at a Philips service agent.
Philips CRTs and Painter chips kept us in business.
Our van driver would "console" the customers as he
picked up the faulty sets. He would tell them every
Philips in the country was going faulty like theirs.
Not far from the truth, but that's not what you expect to hear.
Diplomacy wasn't his strong point.

TV manufacturers. Any truth in this? He is usually wrong. He
thought 'Merry Christmas Everyone' by Slade was christmas number 1 for
20 christmas' in a row.

Mullard - a subsiduary of Philips - certainly made CRTs, and might well
have made them for all UK manufacturers.


He is usually wrong. He thought 'Merry Christmas Everyone' by Slade was
christmas number 1 for 20 christmas' in a row.

Be careful Marky. I was 36 when I had my mid-life crisis. I went completely
