I got a new Vizio VP50 Plasma for Christmas. I have it connected to an
off-air HD antenna. Tonight I was trying to watch "Gone in 60 Seconds" that was being broadcast on my local channel 36-1 affiliate. The image kept sticking. What I mean by that is it would hang for a split second and skip forward to catch up. I changed the channel to 5-1 which is my Fox affiliate that is carrying the Kansas/Virginia Tech game and it looks great, no sticking. I called Vizio and they claim this is due to low signal strength from the 36-1 broadcast. I explained that I have a Toshiba 62HM15 connected to the same antenna and it looks great. Additionally, I check the signal strenth meter on the Toshiba (the Vizio does have such a meter) and it has 84% signal strength same as the 5-1 Fox broadcast that looks fine. Something seems fishy to me. Could the Vizio guys be right or does this set have problems and I need to return it? |

Were there any large blocky pixels in evidence when the hangups happened? |

Sounds to me like a signal strength issue. You also have to realize that all tuners are not created equal and the tuner in your Toshiba make be better. The first thing I would do is check any signal splitters, cables and connections that you are using. Make sure the cable is good (change out the one you are using to feed your Vizio) and make sure that all connections are tight and in good shape. If all that is solid, possibly try putting a powered amplifer in upstream from your Visio. If you still are getting these type of hangs I would suspect it's a tuner issue and see if you can't get Service of some sort out of Visio or the retailer it came from. |

I had a bad coax going to an upstairs analog TV and just walking across the room would cause snow and horz. lines. I assume this would cause DTV to pause as well. |

I will swap out the splitter I'm using and also use a different coax line to the vizio. |
