That's why I won't have a personalised number plate. Ever one I see I
think, "There goes a flash bugger with more money than sense"

I got one on a car I bought in 1989 for more or less a nil premium, so I
have kept it, shfting it on to two subsequent ones. It's book value has
more or less doubled in that time.


Probably not a great investment then, problem being the DVLC, or whatever
keep introducing new formats for plates, thereby vastly increasing the
supply
of personalised number plates with the demand relatively constant. Doubling
your
over that time period just about beats iinflation.


The main advantage is that most people can't tell how old my car really
is.
