To me the most astonishing thing about Tom Tom is the lack of mapping for
the Irish Republic.

Can you fit a sat nav to a donkey cart?

I would imagine it would you would be better of with a moped.
Handy if you have something bulky to carry though.

Ah she didn't specify widescreen then?
Children are not easilly fooled by garbage.

Have you noticed the new clutch of Sat-Navs are widescreen?
Why?
I mean you want to see where you are going, not what's
to your sides. I'm with you on this one.

It's mindless fashion and brainwashing by the indusrty. It's a
kind of false snobbery.

It's a way of saying
"I have got moeny to waste and I wasted it on this"

I mean forking out more money fors omething which is better
is one thing, forking out more for someting worse is opulant

Personally, I find that very condescending and if I was an Irishman I'd hit
you with my shovel.

That's why I won't have a personalised number plate. Ever one I see I think,
"There goes a flash bugger with more money than sense"

Well it's the only part of the car which will hold and indeed
increase in value.
A fairly safe investment, that can't be stolen.
Safer than money in the bank.

And now that Ireland has a greater GDP perhead than England
They can afford plenty of shovels as your average Irishman is 30%
richer than his struggling cousins in England, indeed they can afford
english laboures to dig the holes for them.

Yes, but at what cost? To drive around knowing that all right-thinking
people will label you as a dickhead?

Which map are you using? (or which model of TomTom)

It doesn't matter. No Tom Tom covers Ireland, except for Dublin.

Can't say I have ever tried it in Ireland, but the maps claim to cover
the republic:

From the web site:

"Map of Great britain and Republic of Ireland v6.75

Detailed map of Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland connected to
the Western European major road network. Includes Wales, Scotland and
Northern Ireland. Does not cover the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or
any other overseas territories.Street network coverage: 99%"

I just had a look at mine (Western Europe map V660.1219) and that seems
to have detailed coverage in a few places I picked at random in the south.

True, but if you are already well known as a dickhead that rather
immaterial.

I won't be selling LTC 1 for a while :OP

I find it's not much of a problem is you are already known to be seriously
rich, like me.

It's wannabees like J087 RUM (John Rumm) which give the plates a bad name.
It's the kind of plate which says "I wish I was rich but I am not". A
Rather
pathetic attempt to increase one's social status, especially when it's on a
Toyota Lexus.
