Default Newbie audio options on freeview box - update

....snip...
I just can't tell if this damn box (new PVR) is broken or not. If
it's not broken, the sound quality would prolly get 1 out of 5 stars
in any equipment review! What concerns me the most is if I purchase
some kind of AV amp, only to find that the PVR box's digital output is
lousy as well.

If you bought it from a shop, take it in and try their TVs. Find one that
it suonds nasty on and then try connected to an A/V amp there. Even if you
didn't buy it from a shop, you can try this as most shops will happily put
in a little work to try and get a sale.

I think they would have to make a conscious effort to degrade the digital
output without breaking it entirely. I doubt they'd go to that amount of
trouble just to annoy you.
