============================
OTA= Over The Air.
It is 100% free after you connect to an antenna.
MOST people can get Free HD/DTV this way if they just
try it.
=============================

The availability of Over-The-Air HD is dependent on your location.
Some people are blessed with an abundance. Others (like yours truly)
live in an OTA wasteland. Go to www.antennaweb.org and plug your
address into the antenna selector. It will show you the digital
stations in your area. It won't tell you whether they are broadcasting
in HD or not but it's a start.

I too cannot receive OTA. Well I can get 2 channels. I live against
a hill and behind a small mountain range from most of the stations.
It really doesn't bother me as I want the premium stations anyway.

services. I guess i will wait until i make a decision then.

I recently got an Olevia 42" LCD HDTV on Black Friday.Can anyone give
me an opinion on which service to go with as far as price, packaged
deals, etc.? Time Warner, Direct TV, etc.? BTW, my friend mentioned to
me about AT & T. Has anyone subscribed to this? Any opinions on it?
Thanks.

Can you get OTA?

AT&T looks very competitive. I hope we can get someone with their
service to give us a review soon.

I get two as well (ABC and NBC) but it's not a matter signal
pathway--the local CBS and Fox affiliates aren't broadcasting in HD.
In the case of Fox , it's a low-powered station and they recently
posted a message on their website saying HD was at least three years
away! So a little deductive reasoning based on the above should tell
you what resolution I'll be seeing for the rest of the NFL playoffs!
:-(

Interesting... 3 years? Maybe HD will be 3 years out, but SD digital
has to be in place in just over a year or they go dark. If memory
serves, the analog drop dead date is Feb 08, isn't it? I'm sure someone
will correct me if that's wrong.

my bad. That still leaves a year between when the analog signal goes
dark and the time they are saying they will have an HD signal according
to the OP.

The don't have too because they are a low power station that can't
even get a digital frequency until after the switch over.
