I should also mention that not even Tokyo has as many digital TV
broadcasters as a moderate-sized US city. In Tokyo, there are 8 TV stations: NHK general, NHK educational, NTV, TBS, Fuji, TV Asahi, TV Tokyo, and MXTV. Some parts of Tokyo may also receive TVK (Kanagawa prefecture, to the south) and Chiba TV (Chiba prefecture, to the north). In Kanazawa (Ishikawa prefecture), there are only 6 TV stations: NHK general, NHK educational, TV Kanazawa, Hokuriku Asahi, Hokuriku, and Ishikawa TV. Compare that to Seattle, which has 19 TV stations (one of which is digital-only, so 18 analog stations), and 34 digital channels (of which 8 are HDTV). Yet, Psycho Bob Miller claims that US digital TV is a "failure" compared to Japan. -- Mark -- http://panda.com/mrc Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what to eat for lunch.
