You've already admitted there's a benefit. If you feel that benefit
doesn't justify any fee you pay for it, then you should stop paying.

Well no. There is a benefit to digital PVR devices in general. Sky+ is not
*more* beneficial.

When 75% of the population can record digitally without
paying a monthly fee, don't you think it is unfair that 25% should
have to pay one for circumstances beyond their control?

They don't have to. They can record onto VHS, DVD or HDD.

Not digitally with the ease of a digital PVR.
Again, its your "let them eat cake" attitude coming out.

I have asked
this a couple of time. You keep asking me to answer your question,
so what about answering mine?

I have done, repeatedly.

Where?

You have not.

I have

There's a difference between a luxury item and a necessity. TV
itself is a luxury item, let alone a recording device and
especially one that records digitally.

Today, TV is not considered a luxury item,

Are you arguing TV is a necessity?

No. I am arguing it isn't a luxury,

Then it's a necessity.

Er, above you said "There's a difference between a luxury item and a
necessity".

So which is it? Is there a difference between a luxury and a necessity or
not?

You also said "TV itself is a luxury item".
Now you say "Then it's a necessity."
Which is it?

And with the governments policy of the digital switchover, digital recording
cannot be considered a luxury.
In fact they highlight recording as one of the issues with digital
switchover and the need for digital pvr prices to drop.
They don't dismiss it as a luxury

This could go on for a while .....

Oh no it couldn't
I only paid for 30 minutes.

Then I am off to watch Robbie Williams in HD.
I will probably record it using the Sky+ capabilities of my SkyHD box too.
:-)

But that still doesn't mean I agree with the Sky+ charge....

So? You can get a perfectly acceptable recording on DVD or HDD over
scart. Why do you need a perfect digital copy?

which you claimed it is

Because it is. It is a refinement of living, not something
necessary for living.

As long as it takes you to read a dictionary, yes.

I strongly suggest you take English lessons and then come back.

Why do any of us need one?

25% have one too?

Why? You are the one who seems confused as to whether TV is a necessity or a
luxury.

Do you always stoop to insults as a last resort?
Seems like you need the lessons if you cannot sustain your arguement

Do you really not understand that I was responding to your assertion
that it's not a luxury. If you're arguing it's not a luxury then
you're arguing it's a necessity. If you really cannot see that then
you *do* need the lessons.

Exactly.

If 75% of the population can have one without paying, why can't the
other 25% have one too?

Because life's a bitch. There are many things that many people cannot
have because they can't afford them or they live in the wrong area.
The NHS postcode lottery is much more deserving of this debate than
Sky+ subscription fees.
