At 08:59:24 on 09/09/2006, Jomtien delighted uk.media.tv.sky by
announcing:

Payment to anyone in order to record FTA or FTV channels CANNOT be
justified under any circumstances.

It can as long as you have the option to choose to pay it or not.

And has been explained, many do not have the choice when it comes to
C4 and C5.

And, as has been explained but you seem unable to comprehend, those
people have the choice of using many other methods to record a very
acceptable copy over the scart.

So, extortion then.

So all payment for software is extortion? Just so I can keep up with
your pronouncements, of course.

It is if you have no choice.

Who doesn't have the choice?

If Microsoft started charging monthly fees and if I could only buy PCs
with Windows on then I would complain just as loudly as I do about the
Sky+.

But you can buy any other device to record quite freely from your Sky
box so that analogy is flawed.

As it is, I have a wide choice of PCs and OSs which can all perform
identical functions. The same is not true of the Sky+ because it is a
monopoly.

Nonsense. If you couldn't record *at all* from the Sky box then you
may have a point.

Everyone tries to keep comparing Sky+ to mobile phones, but I think they
get it wrong.

So basically you are stating that everyone is wrong and your are correct.

Okay if you must insist on this, now don't forget to take the pills the kind
nurse has left out for you today...

I tolerate it because I have no choice.

Are you really that spoilt to think that you have no choice regarding
whether you purchase the Sky+ service or not?

Of course you have a choice...

As has already been pointed out, many cannot receive the mainstream
terrestrial channels without a Sky box.

What's that got to do with Sky+?

Clearly the only conclusion here is that some people do not know the
difference between Sky and Sky+...

So what did you find wrong with my arguement?

Or have you got nothing to say, other than result to instults as a last
resort?

I have no other choice of recording digital TV.

Give me an alternative that works where I live and I will gladly consider
it.

Well if the only choice of receiving them is Sky, then the only choice of
recording them is Sky+ if you wish to remain in the digital domain.
That's not too complicated for you is? Or are you truely clueless?

But you aruge that one advantage of Sky+ is digital recording.
DTT PVRs also offer digital recording.
Why should I settle for analog recording of C4/5/etc when integrated is
clearly superior and easier?
Why do DTT PVRs offer these benefits without a monthly fee, whereas Sky+
requires one?
Why should 25% of the population have to pay £10 a month to Sky just to
switch on the recording option of the only digital PVR option available to
them to record channels like C4, 5, BB3/4, ITV2/3 which are not part of any
Sky subscription?

Or as usual do you believe they should eat cake instead? How considerate you
are to those less fortunate than you...

Do you live in some unusual part of the Welsh valleys where powerful
magnetic mountains render VCRs inoperable?
