Multiplex A - or at least Channel 5, QVC, & abc1 - has been playing up here
over the last few days. I'm getting a perfect picture elsewhere but the quality is low on these channels with picture and sound breaking up. It's showing on two STBs using two aerial systems so I'm assuming that it's transmission or something en-route (work on Barton Bridge?). Is the problem general or is it just me that's lucky? -- John Cartmell [email protected] followed by finnybank.com 0845 006 8822 Qercus magazine FAX +44 (0)8700-519-527 www.finnybank.com Qercus - the best guide to RISC OS computing |

Arqiva report no known transmission issues currently. Channel 68 is apparently more prone to localised reception issues (reflected signals etc) so could well be Barton Bridge work that's to blame. Can you check signal strength, is it low or varying? I'm heading up to Cheshire very shortly for the w/end so will take a closer look at Mux A then. -- aa |

Apologies. It was much more local than I expected - being intermittent in one (ie it's now working OK) and mains interference with the aerial lead in the other. -- John Cartmell [email protected] followed by finnybank.com 0845 006 8822 Qercus magazine FAX +44 (0)8700-519-527 www.finnybank.com Qercus - the best guide to RISC OS computing |

No, but one could suppose that if work is being done on the digital muxes on winter hill then it may effect more than one mux. Oh and assuming your reply was a sarcastic pompous one, then the BBC don't do work on any transmitters. |

On BBC transmissions, Muxes 1 and B, and Freeview Muxes C and D it's National Grid Wireless, who were recently bought from Crown Castle (by National Grid), who were the company that bought from the BBC their transmission dept when it was privatised 10 years ago. For all other transmissions, ITV, C4, C5, and DTT Muxes 2 and A it's Arqiva, the name used by the company who bought from NTL, their broadcast transmission section, that was originally (15 years ago) the IBA's engineering dept, until being sold to NTL (who were called CableTel but soon adopted the NTL name for the whole company that the IBA had originally invented for their privatised Tx dept.) NWG and Arqiva own 50% each of the 1154 TV transmitter sites in the UK, they have each other's kit at each site on a Landlord/Tenant basis. Confused ? -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |
