Default coax input broke off HDTV

I've got a Panasonic 53" HDTV that has the coax input missing. I wanted
to buy an HDTV receiver till I found out it needs the coax input on the
tv.

Any HDTV tuner should have multiple outputs to go to the tv, and the RF
connector (coax) would be the worse to use.

So, do all recievers, tuners, antennas need that coax input on the tv?

None of them do. While they probably provide that as one way to connect to
the TV, it is a last choice way of doing it. All other ways will give a
better picture.

Is there anyway I can fix it myself? I checked at an appliance shop and
they can't fix it in my home but would need to cart it out for at least
$200.

It should be easy to fix, and a decent repairman should be able to fix it
in your home. You will more than likely have to remove the back to get to
the cable. if the connector hole in the back is screwed up, just splice
another short piece of cable on and let the new connector hang out the
back. they maje female connectors just for this. With a little luck, you
might be able to fish the cable out the hole.

Do satellite dish setups use the coax input?

The sat dish plugs into the sat reciever box. That box should have
multiple outputs, one of which may be an RF connector, but you don't have
to use it. The only reason to use the antenna input into the TV is to use
the internal tuner. if you don't want/need that, you don't need the RF
antenna connector. I hooked up a sat reciever for a friend and used A/V
cables to the TV. I also hooked his vcr to the RF connector, but that was
because his tv only had the 2 inputs. Your's has 1 hdmi, 2 component
inputs, 2 S-video, and 3 A/V inputs. Hardly hurting for inputs.:-)

Default coax input broke off HDTV

"To get your TV running under Digital SD & HD only:
Buy the $80 Radio Shack digital tuner or the Walmart $120 dig tuner.
THese tuners will not 'FIND' Analog nor QAM Cable Channels.
Buy a $25 Channel Master 3021 4 bay bow tie UHF antenna. It's flat..
"

How about the Terk HDTVa antenna?

I read many times & have the feeling that Terks are way over priced &

relatively poor performers... Nuff said....

Channel Master, Winegard, & maybe some Radio Shack UHF antennas

are the better ones... Bang for the Buck....

UHF antennas for digital TV broadcasts should be of the flat

4 bay bow tie design or V shaped wedge Yagi type..
