Hopefully the M$ and/or VP6 formats will not have this encumbrance. - Tom Gear wrote: China has opted for VP6 for similar reasons and the cost while secret is probably very reasonable. The WSJ had an article on a subject Sept 10th I have been harping on for a while now. That China has awoken from 3rd world thinking and realizes that they can set their own standards. First for their own population and then for the world. China can dictate through quantity production. I expect that something like DMB-T and VP6 will be imported to the US from China. http://ninad.emergic.org/archives/2003/09/10/ I have an 8-VSB receiver. When I got it I expected it to become a doorstop. It will. If you cannot afford expensive doorstops wait for HDTV over cable or satellite. |
