Default DAB - Freeview question

Hi all,

I understand that with DAB you get the track name for each song on your
radio's display. Is Radio 1 available on DAB, and if so, is there any reason
why the track name is not displayed on the screen when I "watch" Radio 1 on
Freeview? It would be very useful for radio programmes recorded on my TiVo,
so that I could easily skip through tracks I don't like.

Thanks.

It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

You can get the track name, I've seen it on some commercial DAB stations, but I
don't think it's used on Radio 1 ? I've seen the same idea on R3 Proms
concerts, as seen via Freeview, but never thought to look on DAB

Is Radio 1 available on DAB,

Yes

Probably the same text input that drives the Freeview listings, also would
drive the DAB display, so if it's missing from Freeview, it won't be there on
DAB either.

It would be very useful for radio programmes recorded on my TiVo,
so that I could easily skip through tracks I don't like.

Thanks.

On freeview radio1 do scroll what's on, but that's in-line with their other
crap text mentioning what competitions are on etc, i do wish it told you
which song was on on a regular basis, or through an option button, could be
very useful for some of their more obscure programming.

Not really a DAB issue. Heart have done this on FM for years.

AFAIK Radio 1 don't show track names except during the Sunday chart
show. A quick check (as it's on as I type) shows these to be displayed
on FM, DAB and Freeview but not satellite!

Yes, DAB has this facility for Planet Rock. I never listen to Radio 1, but
I see no reason why they would not do it for that station.

Is Radio 1 available on DAB,

Yes, it is, on the BBC DAB mulitplex.

on
Freeview?

Radio 5 Live on DTT shows news headlines, so I suspect that it could be
done.
