What for not mobile use they have a much spectrum as they need or even want and no ones going to make equipment for the UK market alone.. Business users? Plenty of space already available. Declining market anyway Dolphin didn't do that well did it?... Broadcasters? Who's paying?, Subscription TV isn't that much of a market because people don't like to pay. The advert cake is very thin already.. Utilities? All gone to dog 'n bones... -- Tony Sayer |

Hi Steve! There's still money to be made - if one slot out of eight in a national DTT mux can sell for several million pounds (ITV3 IIRC), there would be a couple of hundred million to be made from a sell off, even to TV companies. Erm, but the more supply of something that there is, the lower the price for each individual bit. Of course you're right that the government were hoping (dreaming!) of making much more than that, but I guess they'll take what they can get. Supply is sometimes said to create its own demand, so the mobile telephone companies may think up of new uses for spare airwaves. -- MESSAGE ENDS. John Porcella |

I think the best way to do things is to avoid being one of the first
(and avoid like the plague actually being first, e.g. DAB) and to avoid being one of the last. If everybody had that view i.e. avoiding being amongst the first, nothing would ever happen! -- MESSAGE ENDS. John Porcella |
