Than what?

Than ITV4.

I am not a fan of ABC1, but it got to be better than another ITV channel

I've not seen ABC1 but I think there are too many channels just
showing repeats of old shows.

What about some sort of 'best of world TV' bringing in highlights from
different countries with subtitles where needed.

Why? There must be thousands of old 'family' films that can be shown for
next to nothing.

Hmm, i guess your right, it was only my thoughts...

As the slots come available in June they do have some time to aquire
contracts / change contracts where nessaccery, even if they start with
limited hours.

It would definatly be nice to see a new films channel come on screen,
especially one thats not playing Hollywood crap every night of the week
(although a few of them would be welcome too).

Of the channel 4 options i would most like to see More 4 and `Movies`
come to our screen. (And i still think UKTV History would be better if
it was more like BBC Knowledge rather than one of the tiny tiny generés
that UKTV have fallen in love with)

Oh dear, that is not good :-)

This is the problem, I do like repeats of older show, and I mean older
shows, stuff that have not been on for a few years. the problem is, once
they repeat them, we can not get away from them.

In the 70's we had great T.V, now it is just cheap T.V.

Um, that is a good idea, I thought BBC 4 was suppose to do something
like that.

For goodness sake, stop picking people up on their grammar or

As for goodness, I am doing you a good turn by educating you and not

You really are a sad little troll, and how deluded to think that you are
educating people with your pedantic remarks.

Thank you! Being called a pedant indicates that you accept that I am not
wrong.

What gives you the right to
criticise,

That is easy to answer. I was simply responding in kind! The OP was
criticising the broadcast content of 'ITV4' even though it has not yet
broadcast a single thing. Hence, if he is entitled to criticise, then so
am
I of him. Beams and motes come to mind.

are you the official upholder of the english language,

We all are. By the way, it is 'English'.

If you
really want to do a good turn keep your trite comments to yourself.

I could respond with your last comment.

send u the prize if you give us a postal addy, nup its ok we no where u

this months prize will be of particular interest to the english lang ped as
it has plenty of openings for hot air, it is an inflatible plastic
companion, we thought u would like this as it will ease the strain on your
wrist.
ps:
english is a construct of many languages starting from low german (and
incorporating church latin,old norse,danish,norman french,latin&greek, plus
others) and as such is constantly evolving, it has not and never will be a
pure language.

It does a bit of that. I quite fancy a channel to provide it on a
full time basis.

Six of one half a dozen of another. ABC1 seems to be a rehashing of the
worst style of US TV station. ITV just seems to be emulating them slightly
less successfully (excluding ITV3 which I think is worth watching from time
to time).

No it bloody isn't -- it carries welcome repeats of good programmes,
like Jeeves & Wooster, Foyle's War, and I could go on. It's ITV2 which
is the Pure ****e Channel.

I agree absolutely with the above but it depends on your age and ITV3 is not
intended for the the little pop twinkies but the grey and wealthy oldies.

How does "wealthy" come into it?

Watching ITV3 costs just the same as watching ITV2.

be!

Subject: Question: How many Newsgroup members does it take to change a

light
bulb?

Date: 07 February 2001 19:05

Q: How many Newsgroup members does it take to change a light bulb?

A: 1,331:

1 to change the light bulb and to post to the newsgroup that the light

bulb

has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light

bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light

bulbs.

53 to flame the spell checkers.

156 to write to the newsgroup complaining about the light bulb discussion

and its inappropriateness to this newsgroup.

41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames.

109 to post that the newsgroup is not about light bulbs and to please take

this posting to alt.lite.bulb

203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar, alt.spelling and

alt.punctuation about changing light bulbs be stopped.

111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we all use light bulbs

and therefore the posts **are** relevant to this mail list.

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to

buy

the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this

technique, and what brands are faulty.

27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly, and to post corrected

URLs.

3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this

list which makes light bulbs relevant to this list.

33 to merge all posts to date, then quote them including all headers and

footers, and then add "Me Too."

12 to post to the list that they are unsubscribing because they cannot

handle the light bulb controversy.

19 to quote the "Me Too's" to say, "Me Three."

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.

1 to propose new alt.change.lite.bulb newsgroup.

47 to say this is just what alt.physic.cold_fusion was meant for, leave it

here.

143 votes for alt.lite.bulb.
