Default Pace Twin Problem (Locking up)

Hoping someone can help me with some information about the Pace Twin. I am
having an occasional lock-up when viewing and recording to the hard drive at
the same time. The Pace locks up with a frozen image and I have to unplug
the mains lead for a few seconds to cure the lock-up. I always lose the
recording.
A friend who I mentioned this problem to, said that he had seen somewhere a
cure for this problem, which involves earthing something in the Pace box.
Can anyone give me, or point me in the direction of, what this is? Please.

What a clever idea!! I'd have never thought he meant that. Now..... where's
my shovel?

I've had the same problem twice, I have not heard of a solution, but would
be pleased to be wrong.

The "fix" was to solder earth wires to the metal casings of the 2
tuners, but I don't think it was for that problem, it was for some type
of picture breakup problem.

Yours sounds like yet another software problem, though I've never had
that one, I just get it locking up while timer recording. It is fine for
weeks then has a week when it locks up all the time, I don't understand
why. I've also had a new problem recently where I get sound but no
picture on all channels, repowering fixes it.

Thanks Tim for the info.
I also get all the problems that you are having, and about the same
frequency also.
The strapping together of the two tuners seemed a simple job, nothing
ventured, nothing gained, so I have, this afternoon opened it up, and
strapped the two tuners together. I haven't earthed the tuners to the case,
I wonder if I should have done? I can only hope------. Everything is
working, still, so I have my fingers crossed.
If it only improves something, it will be a bonus.
One thing I noticed when I had got the cover off, the card slot at the front
looks like a fully functional card reader. I thought it was just a slot in
the case, like they had used an existing case to make the freeview box,
utilising a case from another satellite tuner, and omitted any circuitry for
a card reader, but no, it has got a card reader of some sort. Perhaps they
intended to use it for updating???
If it is successful, the 'mod', I will let you know.

By any chance is the screen usually fading to black at this point (BBC
TWO and Channel 4 especially)?

If so hit "down" then "up" (minute back and forward) - for me this
always brings me back to where the picture froze in the first place.

Hi Kev,

No I haven't had a picture fading to black, the picture usually either
freezes as a 'still' or the whole screen pixelates and then freezes, but
next time it happens I will try your suggestion.
Thanks

If the picture freezes on playback and the sound keeps on,
pressing Stop, then Play works for me.

They certainly arn't planning on updating it for TopUp TV in the near
future, although as it's not been ruled out by them, perhaps it's
Mediaguard compatible...
