Default Wake Up Scart?

Hi.

If I get a digy box, I am lead to believe that the best way to hook it up to
my DVD recorder and tv is as follows:

DVDrecorder Freeview TV.

This way, I can use the two SCARTS on the freeview box to feed the signal to
the TV and DVDrecorder separately, and use the SCART loop through on the
Freeview box to pass the signal on to the TV when wanting to watch a DVD, as
the DVDrecorder will enforce its will when activated and make the freeview
box and TV take note. Is this correct?

However, I have a question. Using this system, I should be able to watch
freeview, on the TV, direct from box via scart, whilst recording a
different, terestrial channel, on the DVDrecorder, by plugging in the RF's
on the DVDrecorder as well as the SCART? Does that make any sense?

However, if I've told the DVD recorder to go and record off terestrial ITV,
using its RF option, and leave me to watch ITV2 on Freeview, via the scart
from the freeview box, won't this require that the DVDrecorder powers up,
which will cause it to seize control of the loop-through via SCART, thus
forcing its signal upon the freeview box and thus upon the TV, preventing me
from watching one thing (freeview via scart), whilst recording another
(terestrial on dvdrecorder via rf)?

Has anyone been able to make sense of this question?

Thanks.

Should be, yep. Make sure you get a proper Freeview box with two SCARTs.
I'd recommend the Sony VTX-D800U, personally, if it's in your price bracket.

Yes. This is usually done via an "active" signal on pin 8 of the SCART,
although it can also be done in a fancier way using the AV.link protocol.

Yes, as long as the DVD recorder has an analogue tuner.

However, if I've told the DVD recorder to go and record off terestrial ITV,

The DVD recorder should only signal on pin 8 on playback or when navigating
its user interface, not when it's idle or recording.

And even if it did activate pin 8, the other boxes only respond to an
observed pin 8 change; once a box has activated pin 8 you can usually press
something in the upstream boxes to switch away again. For example, you could
turn the Freeview box off and back on again, at a pinch.
