Default Freeview EPG

What's the deal with the availability of a 7-day EPG on Freeview? My
SetPal (Daewoo) box benefited from a software upgrade back in the
summer, but it's still Now&Next only; I thought the proper EPG was
available by now?

It is but the Setpal firmware isn't yet available to make use of it.

Only certain receivers can decode the EPG. See the receivers listed with
7-day EPG on here to see the ones that can decode it:

I haven't read anywhere that Setpal receivers will ever have an upgrade
to support 7 day EPG.

Just because Freeview platform has certain features it doesn't mean that
all boxes support them.

There may even be problems with hardware designed a couple of years ago
supporting features that were not fully defined at the time of design.

I have a Setpal box and while 7 day EPG would be nice I'm not betting
that it will come about. This is no different to the situation for many
other boxes currently in the market place.

If your box could actually access the Freeview data you would find that it
is not a 7 day EPG but an 8 day EPG. Nice.

Setpal's guide is set up to use the 4TV service, but it is not picking
up 7 day (or is it now 14?) details that 4TV broadcasts. I wonder if the
reason is not technical capability, but just that there seems to be no
interests left in the setpal marketing operation to pay for the extension?

Thankfully, I'm not dependant on it (TiVo nutter) but a lot of users are
in the dark at the moment. Time to get emailing ;-)

Does your box show a full 8 days?

I've just had a look at the EPG on my Pace DTVA.

At the time I looked - 14.42 - it was listing programmes from 11:00 today
Saturday to 16:00 next Saturday. This is 7 days 3 hours.

It appears to show data for 7 days with an extension at each end.

My Sony VTX-D800U shows from today (Saturday 13th November) up to midnight
on Saturday 20th November. Of course by now there is not all of today
showing, but earlier this morning there was. It would seem that your Pace is
not displaying all of the data that is available.
