Look at it another way. At least you can now buy a 'Solus' type
viewing card for £20.

I do not see why people should have to pay out for a card to watch
channels that are free anyway.
ITV1, ch4 and ch 5 should be forced to go unencrypted

Also, in a lot of cases £150 will work out cheaper than the Freeview
option.

No, not really, a standard aerial instalation here is about £70-£80, a
Freeview box is about £30, so you are looking at just over the £100.
Plus you got slightly better channels on Freeview.
The other thing is, you do not get bothered by Sky, you are also sure
that the service you get now, will still be the service you get in two
years.
Sky can pull the acess from the card at any time they want to.

that you *have* to have your phone connected?

You should read the terms and conditions and the FAQs.
You will see that they will try and connect the box to a phneline, if
you got one and if the socket is in the same room.
You can also refuse to have it connected.

I do not see why people have to pay £20 to get something that is free
anyway. It is a disgrace and if people got any sense and they want free
extra channels then they should go for Freeview.
OK, I know that not everyone can get Freeview.
I thought the picture quality on Dsat would be better than Freeview, but
they are both as bad as each other.

Oh yes, one last thing, do you think it is not a bit childish to keep
spelling Sky with a $?

No it expresses my view of the company clearly and succinctly.

From Terms and Conditions

If we replace Viewing Cards within 5 years (if you have paid £150) or 3
years (if you have paid £20) of your card’s first enablement, then a
replacement Viewing Card will be provided to you free of charge, provided
that you have complied with these Conditions. If we replace Viewing Cards
after that period, you will need to purchase a new one by paying our then
applicable charge (which shall not be more than £20).

| Sky can pull the acess from the card at any time they want to.

The above indicated that they will not.

But most big companies are the same.

BT, Mcdonalds, Coke-cola, IBM, Intel,Microsoft, Dixons, they are all the
same. Top up T.V will be the same if it ever got to the stage where Sky is.

But they can still change terms and conditions, I did see that on their
website.
