Default ITV3 Launch poor reception

Can anyone tell me why I cannot receive the ITV channels anymore on
freeview? I notice that ITV3 is due to start next week, but at this rate,
there will be no-one watching. My pictures have gone from excellent to
non-existant on ITV in the past couple or weeks.

My crystal ball says that its pretty irrelevant where I am located, as I am
getting reports from many areas of the country telling me that ITV is poor
or none-existant on Freeview. I am in fact in South Yorks, and I've just
been talking to three Freeview dealers at other locations in the UK, all of
which have been getting phone calls informing them that ITV is not available
on Freeview anymore. My reception here has been rock solid reliable for more
than 2 years up until a couple of weeks ago. Isn't it time someone told us
whats happening? Or don't they know either??

Hi
ITV is working fine in all 3 ITV areas that I can pick up and on two
different items ( box & IDTV ).
Yes ITV have changed 3 channels in it's MUX over the last few weeks.
Price drop TV has moved to another MUX.
ITV News is just showing text with a notice saying there will be back on air
in the new year.
& that ITV 3 will start Nov 1st on CH 34 & on cable.

So anyone that has said to you that ITV has gone should not be asked any
questions again.
ITV1, ITV2, ITV News, ITV3 & others ITV channels will be there on freeview
for many years.

When we go fully Digital we will have more channels with high power so these
changes to any MUX
will never give trouble to us again.

GO DIGITAL NOW UK

Best wishes Alan

I don't know what is happening in other regions, but here in Northern
Ireland (Divis transmitter) there is no problem.

ITV1 and ITV2 are available as they always have been. ITV3 is showing
pre-launch stuff, and ITV News has of course been suspended until sometime
in 2005.

It appears that what you are seeing (or not seeing) may be affecting some
locations, but not all.

I wonder how many folk will end up with saturated antenna amplifiers
when they raise the transmitted power of the MUXes. This approach to
digital roll out sounds like a job creation scheme for Bill's trade!

Why have some areas suspended ITV News?

Because, to incorporate an extra channel (ITV3), ITV News has been dropped
in most areas. To restore it they need to change the statistical multiplexer
for mux 2 at the transmitter for an improved version. This may take until
mid-2005 in the worst case!

I got problems picking up ITV3, but then I got problem picking up Ch 5,
mind you i balme Top up T.v for that and now more and more channels are
being squeezed into the space, the quality is going to get worse.

When we go fully digital, I hope the quality is a lot better then it is
now, boosting power is not going to do anything about that at all.

BTW, I am on the Ridge Hill transmitter.
The one reason I deced to get Sky was to get a better Ch 5, but
analouge is still better quality.

GO DIGITAL NOW UK

We can not and we will not, it will be years before we go fully digital.
I am going to stick my aerial back into my T.v, as for the last couple
of weeks I have been digital only, bad mistake.
both sky and Freeview got problems.

Does this apply in London (the suspension of ITV News that is)? Does
it remain available on Sky?
