"Paul D.Smith" wrote in message . net... Problem: Video with single SCART. Want to pipe Freeview in, and pipe out to TV. Anyone know of a cheap, but reasonable, Y style cable that splits in and out, without any switches etc? Cheers, Paul DS -- Please remove the "x-" if replying to sender. Sorry but you really need is a Video Buffer/Replicator. These devices allow you to create mutiple copies of the input signal. |

Sorry but you really need is a Video Buffer/Replicator. These devices allow you to create mutiple copies of the input signal. Confusion reigns ;-). Actually I don't want to create a copy of any signal. I will have a dedicated Freeview box purely there to allow me to record Freeview on the video. A second Freeview box will be connected to the TV. The only issue is that I need to have separate connections to the input and output parts of the single video SCART. Paul DS. |

Does the Freeview box not have two scarts? Does the VCR allow input on the single scart aswell as output? If so you can just connect the VCR to the VCR scart on the Freeview box, and the Freeview box TV scart to the TV. If your TV has more than one Scart, you could then connect another freeview box to the TV. |

Does the Freeview box not have two scarts? No and it only has a single tuner too so I can't record and watch different Freeview channels from a single box. Does the VCR allow input on the single scart aswell as output? Yes. If so you can just connect the VCR to the VCR scart on the Freeview box, and the Freeview box TV scart to the TV. No, see above. If your TV has more than one Scart, you could then connect another freeview box to the TV. That is my intention. One Freeview for the video, one for the TV. I didn't bother indicating all the things I didn't or couldn't do, just the one thing I did want to do ;-). Paul DS. |

These devices allow you to create mutiple copies of the input signal. Surely all he needs is to make a cable with 3 SCARTs, the middle SCART sending AV inputs to one SCART, and AV outputs to another? If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could make it yourself. The SCART pinout is easily found on the web. However, here's a suggestion: buy a FreeView box with two SCART connections next time! Then you can tape analogue + watch digital at the same time Cheers, David. |

Well that's the internet/mail order shop, they were in stock at my local
branch in Reading, so it may be worth giving your local branch a ring. "Paul D.Smith" wrote in message . net... The problem that I'm solving is that the analogue tuner on my otherwise very nice video recorder is very poor and one alternative is to buy a second cheap Freeview box to act as an external tuner. Paul DS. So I take it you haven't bought a 2nd freeview box then? If not then my earlier post remains valid. Buy a 2nd Freeview box that has two scart sockets. You then daisy chain the VCR and freeview box. - Connect VCR scart to Freeview box VCR scart, and the Freeview box TV scart to the TV. - This will allow you to record Freeview AND also playback videos, and as a bonus you could watch the Freeview box too. The VCR does not have to directly connect to the TV- the dual scart Freeview box will do the switching. Then you have your 1st Freeview box (even if only one scart socket as this is just used for viewing) and you connect that to your TV. This way you can record one Freeview channel and watch another Freeview channel. I would connect the main viewing Freeview box to an RGB enabled scart (usually AV1), as this gives the best picture, and the VCR/Freeview to any other, as 99% of VCRs only use composite. Hope this helps. -- For Mobile Phone Offers: http://bextechtelecom.2u.co.uk For a great discussion: http://www.bextech.org.uk eBid is totally free to join and we do not charge posting or final sale fees.
