Default Humax PVR-8000t, could it ever access TopUpTV?

Hi there,

I've got a Humax PVR-8000t and was wondering if any add-ons would ever
be made available to make it accept a TopUpTV card? Something that plugs
into the serial port perhaps, or is that technically impossible?

When I go to UK Gold channel 17 a message comes up saying that the
channel is scrambled and a little grey icon with 'MG' shows up on the
info panel. Does anyone know what the icon signifies?

It really didn't envisage having to replace or purchase additional
set-top boxes quite so soon after buying my PVR!

Thanks,

TUTV have stated there will be a little 'box' that will plug into your
digibox to enable a card to be inserted, therefore allowing you access to
encrypted content.

My advice would be don't be a guinea-pig; wait until other people have tried
it first for problems. (Unless of course, you have money to waste...)

Apparently only for IDTVs though, not set top boxes.

No. Inside the 8000T, there are PCA lands for the CAM slot components to be
soldered to, but there aren't actually any components fitted. So a future
version (9000T) could be built to take a CAM or a card. I don't believe any
"sidecar" or plug in addons will ever be provided for TUTV and technically,
I can't see how they could ever interface to the rest of it.
