In article ,
says... I've explained that I don't have the choice if that channel is the only one showing the programme. If I boycott a single channel by not viewing it, they won't know because my viewing habits are not monitored by BARB. You see this is where you're going wrong. Complain all you want but no-one will take you seriously because you're *still watching*. Just not watching a channel won't make a difference. I've pointed this out to you already. It's about credibility. You don't have any. It's about having the courage of your convictions. You lack that too. If you hate the things as much as you say, you'd avoid them. You don't, so is it that you're lying about how much you hate them or that you just lack the free will to switch the bloody telly off? |

Or there's DVDs. If it's so good that you're willing to put up with a screen full of litter you hate just to catch the latest episode, then it's worth waiting long enough to get the DVD, or if you can't wait that long, get a region free player and get the American versions whch are out sooner. The effect of cheap DVDs on broadcast TV will be interesting. It costs about a pound to press a DVD and there might be 2 hours of programming. If (and it's a big if) a market can be created for DVD only soaps etc there's a fortune to be made. People are happy to pay a quid or so for a paper that they throw away every day, a couple of quid a week for a DVD seems reasonable. -- Geoff Lane "Our lady of blessed acceleration, don't fail me now!" |

So, if one were to record the MPEG stream of, say, ITV's Corrie, and offer these each week on Ebay..... How many lawyers would become involved? The broadcast is theoretically free for all to receive and enjoy. Can the recording and subsequent distribution on CD be viewed as illegal ? John |
