Surely Sky have a right to call you about services you already have, not to
sell you a new one?

Sky don't have any right to call you at all, or even to know your
phone number. If they want to contact you they can write.

Have you noticed that companies that run call centres (banks, credit
cards etc) now include a condition that they may use any phone number
you ring them from to allow them to inform you of services you would be
interested in?

That doesn't surprise me at all. However, including something as a
condition doesn't make it legal, necessary, desirable or valid.

I would block my caller ID when calling such companies.
