Probably better to cancel and then subscribe under your name. Dont even

Has anyone considered that stunts like this might be why subscriptions
cost so much?

No, i think you'll find the reason why subscriptions cost so much is that
Sky is a monopoly.

No, it's nothing to do with BT at all.

I can't believe that people are so casual about frauds like this. It's
like saying that shoplifting is OK because shops make lots of money.
It ignores that shops only make lots of money because they sell
products at a price that covers their costs, plus a profit. If you
increase their costs, you increase the price the goods sell for. And
that means the price that everybody else pays goes up, to cover you
getting something for nothing.

You better tell BT then.

Seriously, I was told by Sky that BT were ultimately behind the IDC, I have
no reason to think this isn't true.

They were when BT have a stake in "Open....". It's no longer the case - and
hasn't been for quite some time - it's all Sky's money and all Sky's
subsidy.

Hi,
We signed up to SKY Digital in around 2000 - it was done in my sisters
name
actually.

Sales guy called, only me and sister at home (me under 18 then and she was
over 18) - she didnt live in our house but sales guy says OK and signs her
up anyway.

All went well but now the Digibox is very slow and knackered. So I am
wondering if they will let us take up a new SKY offer (in my name) as a
brand new customer even tho we have the dish up?) - could i not just say
my
sister doesnt live here anymore (diff surname form me etc)

If I called should I say we still have the original box/card - could say
previous owner sold it to me and now its knackered or should I just
pretend
we only have the dish and its wire and have never had the box?

If not - what kind of price am I looking at to bet gettign a new box from
them with and without a new subscription?

I think £60 is the price for a repair callout - in which a replacement
reconditioned box would be given if yours was faulty.

Just make sure it *is* faulty when they arrive!!!!!!

Yes, it's like returning "faulty" (i.e ****) PC games to Game - the stupid
*******s don't realise that they're encouraging vandalism by their no option
returns policy.

The upshot is however that every retailer turns in to DSG and squats on
consumer rights with a contempt worthy of, um, DSG.

Gareth.

Sky themselves have no respect at all for their customers and will
take advantage of them whenever possible. By doing so they forfeit any
right to decent treatment and thoroughly deserve to have any of their
"offers" exploited by all and sundry. The day Sky start behaving
decently will be the day when people should start behaving decently
back, not before.
Personally I won't hold my breath waiting for any News Corp company to
have any decency.

It is still an offence though.

Okay, here is a better one.

I pay tax. Do sky execs ?

How about.... I paid full whack for my original digibox as an early
adoptor...
