You can convert the Real Audio to whatever form you like. I suggest you google on Streambox. What's wrong with a pop-up console "due to legal issues, Streambox Ripper no longer converts RealAudio or any RealMedia files" Whats 'wrong' with the BBC console is that it makes it difficult to download the data rather than streaming it. Of course that might be the intention ... otherwise its good. With a little bit of effort and insight one can play the stream in realplayer and specify the start time correctly as I find that Radio 3 are poor at setting that correctly. I have a professional interest in web audio; see: http://www.gbc.gi/audio.htm Visit that click on the IRN link and see if it works - then visit their website http://www.irn.co.uk/ and see if it works there, if it does not, report it to the webmaster. -- Jim Watt http://www.gibnet.com |

Any more hints what I'm looking for and whether it will be supported on GNU? What's wrong with a pop-up console it's better than the whole damn Windows Media Player or Musicmatch popping up when you click on an mp3 file. It doesn't work? It seems a lot worse than actually letting the player console handle things. I agree with whoever wrote that sat audio is better at the moment. Easier to save at the moment too. |

They say that somewhere. I wonder why. It's not that difficult to capture the stream for later use - and for many users, particularly those accessing in internet cafés, it would be a helluva lot more convenient. This smells like abnother example of technology outstripping copyright regulations... Philip |

My guess would be that they consider what they are doing as broadcasting, wheras making it available for download might be taken to be publishing in the same way as selling a CD. -- Jim Watt http://www.gibnet.com |

That's not the point. And I wasn't talking about large dishes. You clearly have missed the postings by the ex-pats in Portugal and the east of spain who are using 3m dishes and above to strain at the ether to extract Eastenders and Emmerdale. That's still not the point. And I'm still not talking about 3m dishes. The "90 cm" dish area is vast. Theres not exactly one on every rooftop. I'm not the least bit surprised. And it's still not the point. The enthusiasts, with steerable dishes, or arrays of them are but a handful which can for all practical purposes be ignored although this group is naturally biased towards that enthusiasm. Still not the point. The area served is the point and not the numbers using it. And I'm still talking about the vast "90 cm" dish area. |
