No, email is a point-to-point relay, not a one-to-many broadcast.

So what? That wasn't the point we were discussing.
I was simply saying that your analogy was akin to saying it is your fault for
using it, not the fault of the sender or the broadcaster. As in, if you don't
want viruses, don't use email, which is a valid, but hardly useful solution.

My own opinion is that there is little point discussing these things
with BSKYB.

Sky are totally privatised, with no PSB remit at all. If you don't like
the Sky product, they will say you are in a 9.4% minority and allow you
the option to "churn", but it will not change their policy.

I don't lose sleep over Sky not offering me acceptable services. If they
don't want my cash, that is there choice. I'll keep the cash.

My primary concern is with the Public Service Broadcasters - the BBC,
ITV, Channel 4, FIVE, (and there is a moral point about UK TV too being
"owned" by the public as part of the BBC's shareholding).

The concept is this:

http://logofreetv.org/?html=content/...nition_psb.htm

Public Service Television is considered a vital necessity in a healthy
democratic information based society. My relations with the PSBs are on
the basis of them being Public Services, not coin-operated free-market
businesses, and no PSB CEO would dare go on record (well perhaps ITV
only) talking against the PSB principles.

Public Services are subject to a far higher code of conduct than
the commodity commercial ventures.

So, going back to Channel 4 (the original thread), Mr Thompson has not
quite said "take it or leave it", but I will keep pushing the point.

I am not that concerned with what detractors might say on this N.G. The
only statements of consequence that effects my and the public's TV
viewing choice comes from the broadcasters, regulators, Parliament, and
Goverment.

In that case, why not please give us a little break from you saying it?
