Those "red dot zappers" are not the answer as they don't get rid of a problem that shouldn't be happening in the first place. They certainly do get rid of the problem. "David Marshall" wrote in message ... In article , loz wrote: Well as I understand it, the Sky+ platform can support interactivity during playback of a recording, Um, "the broadcast stream"? No, it receives *a* broadcast stream, not necessarily the same one as recorded (and doesn't now need to be connected to a dish for playback). Because the associated interactive content may not be being broadcast at the time of playback! My point was that much of the interactive content isn't related to the program you are watching As long as there is a broadcast stream being received it can use whatever is in that Like news headlines - you wouldn't want the ones from the time of the original program anyway. Sky Bet - same deal - you want to bet on todays events, not yesterdays (though you would know the winner :-)) Press interactive on Sky and most of the time it is generic stuff totally unrelated to the program Loz |

A "Press Red" indicator would be meaningless for many time-shifted programmes. But does the picture from the "VCR output" scart (intended for recording of programmes) of a Sky box contain the red dot? Yes. It's a backwards step. My old Pace analogue receiver didn';t even put out the setup menus on the VCR SCART as of course there was no point to recording those either. -- Nigel Barker Live from the sunny Cote d'Azur |

But does the picture from the "VCR output" scart (intended for recording of programmes) of a Sky box contain the red dot? In the case of Digiboxes, I don't think there's any fundamental difference between the output of the "TV" and "VCR" SCARTS (for the old analogue boxes, the volume control on the remote worked on the audio output from "TV"). I think they just label them like that simply to avoid confusing people who would ring up help lines asking which one they plug the VCR into.... -- Nick Cooper [Carefully remove the detonators from my e-mail address to reply!] 625-Online - classic British television: http://www.625.org.uk 'Things to Come' - An Incomplete Classic: http://www.thingstocome.org.uk Lost in France (& Belgium) - Two weeks in Normandy, the Somme & Flanders; Simon the Cat of 'HMS Amethyst': http://www.nickcooper.org.uk |
