Only Paces have the new software at the moment.

Nice. Not true. Our Grundig has had it for about a week IIRC.

Really? They always used to do Paces first and the others came later.

None of my 4 boxes has it and one of them is a Grundig.

These devices send a 'Back Up' signal to the box right, so what happens if
you're reading through the EPG, or ordering a PPV or something when the
signal is sent. Will that not mess up whatever you're doing?

Yes, it would. Not a problem with Tivo of course. :-)

Other models are specifically designed for this problem.

The link I gave has all the models on it. You buy them direct from
him.

Just thought, it's also bound to ****-up the TiVo changing channels on the Sky
box too.

The Tivo model is specifically designed to work with the Tivo. In fact
it makes channel changing 100% reliable and also removes the red dot.
I've had one for months.

You should consider what you are missing by not reading all posts

BORING........

"NO LOGO" wrote in message
news:[email protected] .mailgate.org...

Sadly, as of the new Sky EPG version download this morning, the "Press
RED and then quickly press Back-up" trick no longer stops the RED DOT
from loading.

LOGOFREETV made a written proposal for a menu setting in our paper
published in April 2003.

http://logofreetv.org/render.asp?mod...bskyb_30032003

We proposed:

- Interactive Prompt Setting
- Interactive Services Control
- Interactive Dial Out Control
- Virtual On-Screen Logo Setting

They have today added the PIN control to moderate use of premium rate
telephone services, which of course is good.

What Sky still do not accept is the principle of viewers choosing
whether these interactive prompts are enabled or not shown.

We argue that in the internet / computer markets, consumers do have
control and choice of these things through tools such as "pop-up"
killers which have become a standard part of most ISP packages.

I personally believe the principle of the Computer Misuse Act 1990
Section 1, applies, and I have written to Channel 4 and FIVE today
asking for their opinions on this.

In principle, the viewer has the legal right to say no. The next steps
will be to see if this principle can be applied in law, or to see if the
public service broadcasters would choose to adopt user self control.

We need those menu settings. And this time it is not a matter of public
opinion, public indifference, and surveys, but a matter of applying the
law as defined back in 1990.

If you don't mind disabling the search and scan banner, you can postpone
the prompt from appearing using manual tuning:
