I would have both. There are many people in the UK who can't get
Freeview though: I know one who lives just 25 minutes from central
London in one of the most expensive areas around and he can't get it
either.

Agreed. My brother lives in Norwich where reception is apparently fine except
that he has a damn great cathedral between him & the transmitter & thus receives
no Freeview signal.

Provided that you can receive it in your area Freeview DVB-T for UK residents is

Oh rubbish

Care to put a reasoned agrement in favour of your contention?

Why? Was the straight rejection of your obviously absurd and unfounded
assertion of nonsense too complicated for you.

It's free for a start & has more
channels

Also rubbish

ditto With DVB-T you do not need to buy a viewing card (currently unavailable in
any case so only available from Ebay for the cost of a Freeview box). I should
have qualified the second statement. Freeview has more watchable channels. You
may not appreciate them but the likes of ITV2, UK History, UK Bright Ideas, ftn
plus the two MTV-type channels offer much better viewing fare then is available
with an FTV card.

some of which are pay channels on BSkyB.

It has less channels - some of which don't exist at all on DTT.

What has less channels? FTA satellite certainly has more

That's right.

many don't exist at all
on DTT but are simply not worth watching.

That isn't.

In any case I was comparing what you
get for the price of an FTV card vs. Freeview. You do not need an FTV card or
even a Digibox to watch all those endless shopping channels, Extreme Sports or
that amazingly low picture quality channel Classics TV. The one exception of a
decent channel that does not appear on Freeview is Performance.

Rubbish. What is "Performance" in any case?

You have not advanced your argument at all. Merely gainsaying & crying "Rubbish"
doesn't explain why you think my assertions incorrect. you don't even appear to
know what is FTA on satellite if you don't know what "Performance" is. It's an
excellent FTA arts programme 290 on the Digibox. Today programmes include one
featuring Bryn Terfel, a drama with Simon Callow as Schumann & Bobby McFerrin in
concert.

I posited ITV2, UK History, UK Bright Ideas, ftn plus the two MTV-type channels
as examples of General Entertainment channels that could be enjoyed on Freeview
but not with a satellite FTV card. Please could you quote which channels you
think are worthwhile watching on satellite for which a FTV card is necessary?

Correction, that should be 259 on the Sky Planner. 11390H if using a normal
satellite receiver. Their website is http://www.performance-channel.com/

I have no intention of doing so, you pompous arse.

No. Since that was never in contention. CNN and Euronews easily trump
everything you have put up and you are additionally outbid many times over
by numerous radio channels. Your list contained nothing worth watching or
listening to apart from UKWW2 and particularly doubly so for ITV2. The DTT
system is technically inferior and I wouldn't dream of relying on it.
Satellite is rock solid and robust and works pretty much everywhere.
