Well i've just cancelled my Tivo subscription and plan on
selling it over the next few days. I would have loved to
keep it but I cant stand paying £10 a month for the EPG.

Still got to be worth a lifetime sub if you can afford it.

If not you
should get a decent price for it on Ebay.

I should have got the lifetime when I first bought the
machine which was last year. Rookie mistake, I didnt realise
how good the Tivo was.

Still on the plus side, I can now have space to fit a DVD
player on my big tv :-)

Regarding the Tivo, what size disk have you got in it ? Might be
interested.

Are you saying Dual Record doesn't work? The version on my

V1 box is

1.3.0BF & the EPG version is sky+1.26.v2

I had to do a forced update to get it to work, all seems
fine now.

5. I noticed that a 1 hour show takes up 6%, that's only
16hrs of recording time! What happens when I run out of
space and I have a show to record? Will Sky+ just delete

the

oldest show like a Tivo does?

It depends on a number of things - whether you've "Kept"

the

recordings with the blue button; whether you've got the

disk

management set to automatic.....

Whats the difference between automatic and manual, i'd
rather Sky didnt start deleting the shows I have recorded
and aint got around to.

8. I currently have my Tivo unplugged, is anyone using

their

Tivo with Sky+?

Many use a Tivo - the general advice seems to be "Don't

get rid of it"

Well as it stands I think I will get rid of the Tivo and
just add a bigger HD to Sky+.

Anyone want a 1yr old Tivo in great condition. boxed (no
lifetime sub), only £160 inc p+p.

Standard hardisk, I never got around to updating it. I have
deleted all the programs off the drive and reset it to
factory settings. It's in very good condition and comes with
original box, remote, manuals etc.

That sounds good to me (been directed here from another group) - is it=20
still available?

16hrs isnt really that long recording time if you go on holiday for a
week or so.

As the recording rate is variable it all depends on what you're
recording as to how long you get. Sky claim an average 20 hrs or so, I
think, for a standard drive.

The actual space requirement is down to the bitrate that the
broadcaster transmits. In my experience, the Sky+ planner
over-estimates the space requirement. An hour can vary from 3% to 7%
(though 7% is unusually high) - the average seems to be 4%-5% for an
hour. The film channels tend to be a little higher.
