Once again thanks for trying to help.

Just to clarify things. My TV can communicate with Sky. I proved this by

responding to one of their on-line polls. The problem is that Sky can't
send a film or whatever BACK down the line as they are getting
"engaged".

I don't think I have any option other to re-install my old analogue
(second) line if I want to receive Sky+.

Do you withhold your number?

NO!

In that case, turn off your caps lock and disconnect the phone
altogether as I suggested the other day. The only function served by
the phone connection (if you don't have a mirror sub) is to order PPV.
You do NOT need a working phone connection for the Sky+.

Once again thanks for your continued interest.

I appreciate your attempts to help but the comments from both the
installer and from the Sky engineer on the end of the phone were that
the could do nothing because they could not dial in to my phone.

They both said that they had experienced a number of problems with ADSL
lines. I really need to hear from someone who actually has access to
Sky+ and has just the one ADSL line.

I'm confused - why would Sky be wanting to call your Sky+ box?

They wouldn't. No matter what the Sky engineer said - Sky never, ever,
EVER dial you up and expect your digibox to "answer the phone". It does
not work that way.

Well, yes, I know this - hence my bemusement that this thread was still
going on.
