Default unable to dial out

Hello,

I was able to dial out to get my program data until a week ago. I was
wondering how do I know if my modem is fried or if I have a problem with my
telephone provider? I was able to dial out (713 area code) using two
comma's as a prefix.

Second question is why is my software download current as of 6/14 while my
program guide data is not current? Isn't the software download using the
same phone connection?

Thanks in advance,

Aldo

Can you dial the number from a phone?

You mean the data download? No, that uses special broadcasts on
Discovery Network.

Hi Megazone,

Yes I can dial the number...

It is strange that I was able to dial for approximately a month and then all
of a sudden I can't.

If the modem is fried, can I connect a gadget to my svr2000 that will get
the program downloads via the internet?

Regards,

Aldo

http://www.weaknees.com/modem_fix.php or any of the three Network cards
listed at http://www.9thtee.com/tivoupgrades.htm .

Seems like that's a Series 1 TiVo? No, AFAIK, they can't get guide data
from the Internet.

I have heard that the modem is replaceable, though. You might try googling
for info on that.

They can with a network card add-on, or an external modem on the
serial port.

1) Open up Series 1 TiVo, install TivoNet or TurboNet or AirNet or CacheCard.
2) Set dialing prefix to ",#401".
3) Guide data comes in via Internet.
