Default disable progress bar?

I dislike the progress bar that pops up when you fast-forward.

A few years ago I read a message here by Jerry Boyle where he said

"If the extra popup really annoys you, you can get rid of it for all
shows until the next reboot (on the TiVo S3 and perhaps others) by
hitting the down arrow followed by the Select-Play-Select-Pause-Select
sequence. This also quickly clears the progress bar, which you may not
like, but it may be a price you're willing to pay. Another
Select-Play-Select-Pause-Select or a reboot restores everything."

Recently, this stopped working for me.

Does anyone know a new method to use to make the progress bar disappear
quickly?

Go to Showcases, start watching the first one, hit pause, then use
the above sequence.

Thank you very much. That did the trick.
